It was Tuesday night and only four days until Prom Night, graduation was approaching quickly. Julie Anne was on Prom committee with her friends, and they were getting very excited for the big night. Julie Anne and her friends had all gone shopping months ago for their dresses, the theme this year was "Remember the Time". The girls chose this theme after taking a Shakespeare class and enjoying the play "Romeo and Juliet". They decided the prom theme could be centered around the time of the play. The girls could wear dresses and masks just like the night Romeo and Juliet had met in the play, and the boys could do the same. Of course Julie Anne and her friends all had dates to their senior Prom, and they had all been friends for the past four years. It was going to be the "perfect night".
Julie Anne had been dating her boyfriend Peter for just over a year and everyone thought they were perfect for each other. Peter was a perfect gentleman and to everyone else couldn't be more of an amazing match for Julie Anne. Even Julie Anne's parents loved him, so they wondered why Julie Anne seemed so unhappy with him lately.
Prom was quickly approaching, with it less than a day away Roxanne (the head cheerleader) was getting very excited. Although her star football player boyfriend Ronnie from another school didn't seem to care, and that bothered her. Roxanne was some what high maintenance and demanding, and this was Ronnie's second prom this year since he and Roxanne had already gone to his a few weeks ago. Of course Roxanne had made ALL of the arrangements for his prom night and she was doing the same for hers.
The morning of prom Julie Anne and her girlfriends met up at the hall to finish setting up and make sure everything was just right for their big night. Then they were getting their hair and nails done, and meeting at Julie Anne's for pictures and the limo was picking them up there. Peter looked great and Julie Anne loved him, after all he was her first love. But she couldn't help but feel like something was missing lately between he two of them. She thought maybe they were just going through a rough patch and tonight would set them back on track.
Walking in to Prom was beautiful and it looked just as Julie Anne had imagined it would. Peter was in a great mood and they seemed to be having a perfect time together. The girls danced with their masks held over their faces and felt as beautiful as ever. But of course when Roxanne walked in the room everyone noticed. This really bothered Julie Anne, after all she had done all the work and had all the good friends why was Roxanne so popular and noticed? But then when she caught sight of the boy Roxanne had been with, she was frozen. She looked to see what it was about him that was so familiar. As he took off his mask she realized she had never seen him before. Peter noticed something was wrong and rushed over to Julie Anne, but she told him not to worry everything was perfectly fine.
Towards the end of the night Ronnie made his way over to the dance floor where Julie Anne and all of her girlfriends were dancing and laughing. Something about her just pulled him in, she was stunning, her eyes, her smile, and her laughter. He couldn't help but notice her. Roxanne had been off flirting with other guys and prancing around the room with the cheerleaders, she wouldn't even notice he was gone. Ronnie introduced himself to Julie Anne, and when Peter caught sight of their meeting, he knew by the look in Julie Anne's eyes she was happy he had introduced himself. Peter watched the two talk and laugh, the pain in his stomach was excruciating seeing her smile and laugh at someone Else's jokes, flirting even though she didn't know she was flirting. Peter was the only one she had ever been with and she would never hurt him on purpose.
When Julie Anne saw the look on Peter's face she realized she had crossed a line and began to feel awful. She apologized to Ronnie and explained she had a boyfriend and it was very rude of her to have left him for so long. Julie Anne told Ronnie how nice it was to meet him and that she had to go. Ronnie didn't know how to respond, it was love at first sight and knowing she was taken hurt. Julie Anne approached Peter and apologized for her rudeness, and Peter accepted her apology but went on to say that they were going to need to talk. Peter and Julie Anne enjoyed their last hour of prom, dancing only with each other. Julie Anne couldn't have had a better night, and thought everything had gone just the way she had planned, it was a spectacular night. When prom ended and the girls grabbed their things they noticed the weather seemed to shift, and worried their idea of camping wasn't such a good one. The rain was coming down in buckets. Peter gave Julie Anne his coat to wear so her dress did not get ruined while they waited for their limo to pull up. Peter leaned down and kissed Julie Anne on the forehead and thanked her for such a perfect evening.
In the limo on the way back to change before their big camping night out, Peter told Julie Anne he saw the way she looked at the other boy, and the way he looked at her in return. He also said that he felt they had been drifting over the last few months. But he still loved Julie Anne with all his heart and he explained that would do anything to stay with her. Julie Anne instantly began to cry knowing what Peter was saying had been correct, Peter held her close. He said that it was her decision to make. Julie Anne knew that she loved Peter with all her heart and wanted to work it out, but she couldn't help but think about the young man who had introduced himself to her that night.
At that moment a semi spun out of control and hit their limo. Killing Julie Anne, Peter and all of their friends.
